Decision making framework for autonomous vehicles driving behavior in complex scenarios via hierarchical state machine

Abstract With the development of autonomous car, a vehicle is capable to sense its environment more precisely. That allows improved drving behavior decision strategy be used for safety and effectiveness in complex scenarios. In this paper, making framework based on hierarchical state machine proposed with top-down structure three-layer finite system. The upper layer classifies driving scenario relative position surrounding vehicles. middle judges optimal according energy efficiency function targeted at multiple criteria including efficiency, grid-based lane vacancy rate. lower constructs transition matrix combined calculation results previous predict pass way region. simulation show that can integrate evaluate value real time, realize selection strategy. popularity automatic vehicles future, as reference provide assistance human drive or even real-time decision-making driving.
